What is RAW WAR
RAW WAR is our tournament. This is optional but most people who come join in. Newcomers and players who come only once are welcome to join in.
We pick 3 games from 3 different genres and play them for a year in a tournament format - more details below. This year we are playing Insane Racing (Driving game), UT2004 (First Person Shooter) and Rise Of Nations (Real Time Strategy.
The tournament is organised by our tournament director Wayne. It always
kicks off after Pizza at around 7PM. Wayne organises each night and
instructs team captains on what's happening next. He also ensures that
servers are setup uniformly or within allowed settings. Team captains
then tell their teams which server to join.
We are currently using 2 man teams and using a round robin format of
team vs team.
Teams create a server for each game and then players from each team
join and away they go.
Scoring
With the exception of one UT2004 death match all games are played as
team games and while individual scores are important the focus is on
the team having fun and doing well.
All the scoring rules and explanations are on the scoring
page. Semi Finals are based on top teams playing bottom teams in
a last chance play off for the final. The winner of the 2004 team final
was Bosom Buddy's team the "Patch Queens".
A Top Gun Trophy is presented at the end of the year for the death match
individual result. The inaugural winner in 2004 was Gunner.
