2:30pm Drivers’ briefing

If there are more than 12 cars entered we will run qualifying for an A and B server. The amount of cars will be split evenly (i.e.: if there are 14 cars, then the best 7 in A and the rest in B). If there are an odd number of cars entered, then the greater portion will be allocated to A (i.e.: if there are 15 cars, then the best 8 will go in A and the rest in B).

2:55 Qualifying 1 server open
(2 servers of 10 laps with collisions turned off. One driver from each car must drive in either of these servers to post a “best lap” time.)
3:00 Qualifying 1 server starts

3:25 Qualifying 2 server open
3:30 Qualifying 2 server starts
(Same again – 2 servers of 10 laps with collisions turned off. This time the alternate driver from each car must join and post a “best lap”).

The average of the best lap times from each car will determine which server they qualify for (i.e.: if one driver does a best lap of 1:52 and the other driver does a best lap of 1:50, then that car’s Average Qualifying Time is 1:51.00).
In the event of a car having more than 2 drivers, only 2 drivers need to qualify.
If 2 drivers do not qualify, then the car will automatically be allocated to the B server.

If a car in the B server finishes the race in a time quicker than one or more cars in the A server, then the B car will be allocated the appropriate finishing position (except for podium placings). Example: if the winner of B finishes the race in a total time that would place it ahead of 6th in the A, then that car will officially be recognised as finishing in 6th place.

3:55 Servers allocated
4:00 Race Start

IMPORTANT: - Drivers’ Log.
a) No driver can drive more than 85 laps during the whole race. You must plan your pit stops to ensure this doesn’t happen or you MAY be disqualified and / or deemed ineligible for prizes.
b) Please complete the drivers’ log on the laptop spreadsheet. Find your car and enter the number of the lap that you entered the pits to change drivers.

Collisions are turned on (forward only) for both servers for the entire race.
a) There are no rules as far as bumping, pushing, spinning other cars.
b) However, it is assumed in the spirit of reasonable sportsmanship that all collisions take place in a racing fashion. If you just want to smash cars, you’re in the wrong place, but if you are progressing around the track, including returning to the track after spinning out, then all collisions are legal.
c) Golden Rule: it’s only a game. No complaining. If someone is hitting you and you don’t like it, keep out of their way. If you are hitting someone repeatedly and it’s upsetting their day, stop it or I’ll pull your plug.

Unforeseen problems (power / network outages, etc).
a) Without planning for every possible situation, the general idea we have is that we only want to do a maximum of 161 laps. So, if the server goes down after 70, we’ll record the placings and restart the server for the remaining 91. If this situation happens, whichever race is the longer will be considered the main race (in this case the 91). If the server crashes after 100 and we decide to do the last 61 separately, then whoever was winning after 100 will be the winner.
b) If 50% or more of computers in the same server suffer failure, same as (a) above.
c) If less than 50% of computers in the same server are knocked out, then their cars are damaged beyond repair, have been garaged and will be allocated a DNF.
d) Golden Rule: All of the above are at the discretion and interpretation of the Race Committee. Decisions will be made that are in the spirit of enjoyment rather than competitiveness.
6:00(approx) pizza arrives

9:45 it would be appreciated if everyone could give us their attention just for 10 minutes so we can do a short presentation. I know some will be wanting to pack up and go home, but if you could put that on pause just for 10min that would be fantastic.
