Time To Start Building!!!

The Ninja Kid's picture

Alright guys the time is almost here,

I now have a full time job so i will soon be able to afford to begin building my SFF Gaming PC,

instead of going with my original plan on a silverstone TJ08 case im acctualy going to start the build of with a Asus uATX barebones tower, it has a 300W PSU and a decent uATX mainboard with the G33 chipset so it can handle a quad core extreem chip if i wanted.

im going to start with a E2140 for the cpu, basicly coz i really want to get this build started and i cna overclock teh hell out of it with a Zalman cooler (dont worrie guys in about a month or so after i buy this i will be buying something along the lines of a E6750 or higher)

ill also start with 2GIG of 667 DDR2 memory i dont see ti worth going to 800 as when i upgrade the cpu ill upgrade the memory also and i want some memory to use with the 2140 CPU when i replace that.

ill be going with a 8600GT card also, this will be upgraded to a 8800GTX at the same time as the CPU and memory, im 99% sure that a GTX will fit in the case as i have read every review on teh case there is and people have said they ahve done it, i ahev not seen any iamges of a GTX in the cases though

when i upgrade from teh lower spec parts to higher spec parts ill also be adding a silverstone 600W PSU

standard DVD dual layer burner, no HDD with the originaly biuld ill use my spare 80GIG sata til i upgrade,

when i upgrade teh HDD's ill be purchasing two 250GIG sata2 drives and putting them in 5.25" caddys one with vista and one with XP and swap the two when i want.

ive bene daul booting vista and XP on my work pc for a while and im sick of it i see it easyer to jstu swao teh HDD's over in caddys.

also when i ahev teh money i will be buying a dell 30" widescreen LCD, i cant buy this untill get my 8800 car though as i dont think the 8600 could handle a screen with a rez of 2560 x 1600 and a second monitor at 1800x1440, which si what i run atm dual 22" dell flat CRT's (trinitrons really) running 1800x1440.

if anyone wants to giv me more advice woudl be greatly apreciated,

but as i now haev to pay fro my fuel driving to work, soon putting a deposiet down on a house and spending money on my girfriend parts will be bought one at a ime after the original $600 crash out which is as follows

Product Price

Zalman CNPS9700LED (Copper) CPU Cooler $76.00

Albatron GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCI Express $125.00

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.60GHz/1MB CACHE/800FSB/LGA775 $86.00

2GB (2x 1GB Kit) Value Select PC-5300 (667MHz) Corsair $99.00

LG DVD18X+- Super Multi DVD Rewriter with Software(DUAL LAYER)Black $37.00

Asus V3-P5G33 Intel G33 Quad Core Support,1333 FSB $268.00

Total $691.00

thats basicly what im going to start with in aproximatley 2 weeks.

if you take a look at the attatched images i think a GTX will fit, if not i will be buying a GTS OC but ill make teh decision after i purchase the case and all that.

Hey guys just wanting some adive,

how does this sound to you guys for the base to start my uATX system

Zalman CNPS9700 CPU Cooler $76.00 (so i can overclock the lame CPU)
ASUS V3-P5G965 Intel G965, LGA 775. $191.00 (uATX Barebone System)
E2140 1.60GHz $86.00

any thoughs or advice on cheaper parts would be helpfull as im on a tight budget and even the 800 bucks is a big chunk of money to me right about now, my desktop computer just died so i dont have a computer at all, so i will be salvaging dvd burner and hdd from the old system as nothing else is compatable.

(yes im posting this from my work computer)

also i wont skimp anymore on the videocard, i figuer get a decent GC and a low end cpu and jstu overclock the hel out of the CPU with a big cooler till i can afford a quad core,

not a bad system on its own

not a bad system on its own anyway - will play games beautifully
may not even need to overclock the cpu the cooling should be enough the get the performance out of it as standard

Yeah, Thanks i figuerd that

Yeah, Thanks

i figuerd that if i have the graphics power like a 8800 card then a lot of load might be taken from the cpu. . .

im hoping thats how it works atm with the new way things are ebing physicly made and software programed :S

the ram si cheap junk though. . . but as far as im concerned it will do for now.

ill be upgrading to 800 sticks of corsair when i upgrade the cpu.

also the powerunit of that barebone case will be the first thing to go, ill be putting the thermaltake PSU out of my dead pc into it, its a 430 true with SLI plugs for the 8800 on it.

i have a 200GIG sata drive and a 80GIG sata drive both will find there place in the pc. unfortunately they are bothe only stndard 8meg cache drives. . there old drives lol. .

i might throw my old tv tuner card in there for the hell of it also lol so i can watch tv on my 22" CRT's

anyway thanks for the feedback much appreciated

Regards Leroy

If you want some extra cash

If you want some extra cash for your PC, you should think about selling some of those extra 22" CRT's in your cupboard (if they still work)... I'd be interested in buying one:p
I love my CRT's more then LCD too.

Ill Consider parting with

Ill Consider parting with one of them for you. . .

atm i have two in perfect working order, and 4 others that need some assistance as the picture quality isnt what i would like, i can get you one of the two i am using and i will repair one of the others two replace it, so you would get a good one.

if you hold of till the 30hr lan i am more then willing really to just give one of the CRT's two you, they are nice black Dell badged flat 22/21" trinitrons.
