30 Hour LAN Wish List

administrator's picture

The 30 hour LAN will be on in January again.
This will run from 6PM on a Friday through to the following Saturday midnight as per the last couple of years we have run this.

We will probably follow a similar format for pricing, basic cost if you just want to come, or fully caterered for a slightly higher cost.

This post is to ask you guys what you want. I have already had some requests for the 30 Hour. Reply and list what you want to see happen, eat, play, do etc. Also suggest the dates that are good or not good for you.

Requests I have had so far include:

V82 Supercars tournament for prizes - say a 40 lap Bathurst followed by 40 laps of surfers in teams of 2.
Internet acccess - presumably for internet gaming? - we will look at this one.

NOOOO!!! no net access, ppl

NOOOO!!! no net access, ppl will sit there all night and be anitsocial. I suggest a game of DOTA or BF2142, also some UT2004 and NFS Carbon if its out. Anything that is fun to play multi in.

Maybe some CS source for prizes or a BF2/2142 game in squads with prizes for highest kill count, (so long as 2142 has been reasonably patched by then).

I wouldnt mind a game or two of Painkiller if anyone has it or even Doom 3, Quake 4 if people feel like it.

Maybe we can set up a movie for the day on sat morning (something games related) or even live cams of fps games with music over the top.

Watever u guys are up for im in. See you there.

dawn of war is good, no

dawn of war is good, no crappy battlefield games tho plz.
i disagree with Godis about net access tho. i would like to have xfire running and to be able to download patches if needed.
also, UT is good, no counterstrike, maybe some new release FPS games - not new release now, new release as in January.
NO V8 GAMES PLEASE!
also, no movies - its a LAN, not a movie night.

BF2142 Hmm have any of you

I agree with the downloading

I agree with the downloading of patches for the net and maybe xfire but dont you think with the people who play all those strange and wonderful games you have never heard of will just sit at the back of the hall and play net games, hogging bandwith that could be used for patches etc.

Deffinatley agree with the no V8 comment, and the new fps games in jan. the christmas rush should produce some shinners.

However i have to dissagree with the movie thing. I can see why you would not want the movies running what about live footage from within games as spectators, like half life TV. They do it in korea and they are the gaming capital of the WORLD!!!

Anyway its your decision about the movies but i think it could be a distraction from the games if they get boring or while you are leeching the latest patch, driver, iso or serial. even if it was just to look up and see kill bill part 2 with elle driver getting her eye ripped out.

What do you think about showing trailers for new games though, could that work. Just so we can get our wish lists ready.

Anyway ill see you there on sat the 4th.

if we were to show movies we

if we were to show movies we would need a public screening licence. these run at several hundred dollars per movie - hence no movies.
additionally no one really watches them. Even when we had v8s at bathurst and the soccer on no one sat and watched the whole thing.

keep the feedback coming - we will be doing lots of stuff at the 30 hour lan - and there will be plenty of time for everybodys favorite thing to happen

all right no movies, I think

all right no movies, I think it quite hilarious that we can all have millions of movies on our computers (totaly legaly, of course) and yet we cant watch them on a big screen, anyone think this is a bit of a paradox??? Anyway if not the movies what about the spectator in the games idea?? any one up for that?

Let Me know

WoW is awsome i play it

WoW is awsome
i play it ligit....

lol

yeha cya there ay'

I think that the net access

I think that the net access should be restricted to one or two PC's if you get it. That way patches can be downloaded as needed (then shared accross the network), and you don't have to worry about half the room just trying to download stuff, slowing everything down. Also by not having an internet connection on the network will make it more secure for everyone (less worry about virus and hackers).

PS. WOW is crap.
