it's stupid that you are bringing in old games when good games like quake 4 is being overlooked.

i had it, i offered it, nobody listened. just like the last three lans. people need to open their minds - they just want to play the games they want to play. i will play every game that is suggested and i even dont mind playing racing games if they're on someone else's computer.
what i find annoying is:
1. the same games are played all the time. the tournament games are played in the 6 hrs before the tournament and nothing else.
2. people who play other games dont inform others about it and only play with 3 or 4 people in the back row.
3. in the 12-6 period where it's free play, one game is played for a long time. at the last lan, 2 games were played - v8 for about 3 hrs and far cry for a while
4. you say if people aren't ready with games installed and checked if they can join, etc. the game will start without them. far cry at the last lan didn't get the 3 rounds because a) racing came before it and b) nobody checked their installs. racing should go last because it is the one with no set time limit and you can finish it early and still get an accurate result.

the times need to be organised better. since strategy and fps games have distinct time limits, they should go first and at a set time. also for fps, if each round takes 40 mins and there's 3 rounds, that isn't 3x40 mins. you have to allow for a 10 mins for a break and server setup etc. also setting min no. of players for each team really high (e.g. the exact number of people joining) doesnt work either. remember when one person left and reset the game? it needs to be 'the server starts now' and when 5 people join it starts. if others aren't ready, it's their own fault. the same goes for strategy. if someone isn't in the lobby by the time the game is set to start, too bad.
i think to avoid the confusion etc. of the 6-12 period, i think the tournament should start at 5 or so with a distinct concrete time schedule.

ahh good in therory but u get the pessimists who put negitivity into everything eg i justspend 4 moths getting a et server 2 work and it was overlooked. i didnt wing 2 you i smiled sweetly and played andther game i would have loved 2 play et but instead i played wat was going. on a another note: Nexius is fun tim said this is a ripoff of ut at the start but 5 mins he was loving it. it is fun trust me. i will ahve it at next LAN and it takes 45 seccons 2 set up!!!!

1. you need a spelling checker. get the google toolbar. it has one. 1 or 2 mistakes are okay, but i counted 15 in the last post alone. and it makes the post illegible.
2. the edit button is there for a reason. dont double post.

im not downloading 187mb for something i wont touch until the lan where i can leech it.

its all well and good that you can suggest an old, unpopular freeware game, but what annoys me is that nobody even gives a new game a chance. if someone suggests a game, somebody says 'oh i heard it has a really rare bug where you lag for 1 second' and everyones like 'oh it must suck then' but when you offer an unheard of, freeware game, nobody has heard anything about it so they dont know if it has a regular bug where you lag for 3 mins before getting a critical error which corrupts your bootup drivers.
the bottom line is: NEWER GAMES ARE BETTER! everybody who can play far cry can play quake 4, call of duty 2, c+c generals, etc.
if all you play are old games, i want to know why nobody wants to play tiberian sun, which is the best damn RTS ever made in the history of the universe.

hey, i dont really care, if i dont like it i wont play it, but gameplay improves with every new release of a game. it makes it more enjoyable and fun.

yes, lets. the problem is that you are prepared to play new games, but remember the last LAN? nobody wanted to play CoD2 so we didn't bother about it. who knows, maybe quake 4 wil be different.
quake 4 is one of the best - it made it to the CPL with a first place prize of US$20,000

I think we need to create a master list of what games people have access to (host it on some computer at the LAN). That way everyone will know what games are available to play.

I had a brief look at mulitplayer for Quake 4, and it would seem that it can only host 16 players...is this correct? Obviously you can still use it in freetime, but not for the competition.

I agree with Penguinboy in that it would be good to have some different games running in the freetime.

As a bit of a side issue: in the next LAN when we play Far Cry for the competition, can we use a big map? It gets a little tiresome having somebody spawn right in front of you, and killing you while they are still invincible!

the point of top gun is a killbox.
the spawn-protection is there to stop spawnkillers.
it can be changed with the command:

gr_invunerabilitytimer 0

also: please specify the 3 maps as i will make a mapcycle.txt so you can avoid restarting the server every time. for a break you can toggle the prewar. i know all the server commands so i can do it from my computer with the server on another as long as i have rcon access.

for quake 4, there is a mod which enables 64 and 128 players.
it wont be a tournament game, as i insist that ut2k7 will be fps for next year :P

gr_invunerabilitytimer 0 isnt a script, its a server-side command.
so are all the prewar on/off commands. oh well it doesnt matter

because BF 2142 is coming out soon :)

well umm game arena has 15 servers for it and 75 clans playing it cant be all that bad....

what part of 'its not a very good game' dont you understand? i didnt say 'its the crappiest game ever', bf2 gets that award.
its not a good game because:
1. graphics are shot
2. gameplay is slow
3. its an internet game - hard to use in LAN
4. has weird things you have to do
5. you are the only person at the LAN who likes it
6. clans are overrated. there are at least 500,000 cs clans and most of them only have one person. if 2% of all clans are actually serious, that makes 1 ET clan.
7. notice most of those 15 GA servers are empty?
ET:W is dead - wait for quake wars

1. lunky kill killer and myslef all play it.
2. its slightly different but still its fun.
3. it requires more team based game play.
4. not hard 2 use at LAN i merly running it wrong
5. all 75 clans on the adder are very serious all of them paying for there own server 2 get practise and teamwaork skills inproved.($1200 a year for a good server)
6. GA servers are only empty atm becuase they are using the worng settings. look at the internode servers.
7.grphics are shot if u dont know hoe 2 set them up.
8. gameplay is fastpaced when you get 2 know the game.

so get your facts right!

graphics are shot because its an old game. there isnt a setting like, 'make game look good'
