Comments on the 30 hour lan

IT's not that we can't stay awake is just we kinda get bored playing the same thing so we use sleep as an alternative.

I heard somethink about DOTA from tim 2 but this was before we even started playing the game. It diffenatly would be a nice change from Rise Of Nations and a more challenging one at that.

Oh btw Neuro we keeping that pool table for future lans or was that just a one off.

far cry is repetatively boring i really hope its not a war game.
dota was actually fun (sort of)
call of duty 2 would of been awsome if u would have tried it
overall the best thing i did at the lan was leech :P

because all everyone else for over half the time is far cry.
try to plan them better so we get ppl playing a different game at the same time

Would have to agree with on that Far Cry is Repeative but was actually fun with some of Doc's guys there. Dota would kick ass as I said before as a war game basically everyone but 2 people would be on even playing would rock unlike Rise of nations.

Call of Duty 2 would be nice to play but then again so would BF2 so it's a toss up there.

It would be nice to have multiple servers up next time so we can play a different game every now and then.

I must of been the only person at that lan who didn't leech more than 2 files not for the want of trying either u guys just had nothing to share AT ALL. People's please work on them share's half the fun of a lan is leeching.

why didn't we play COD2 - i don't remember anybody setting up a server and then helping people to install and play it...
and i was awake the whole 30 hours - as was rochie!

i was trying - every 1/2 hour or so i yelled out 'lets play cod2!' and my voice was drowned out by rochie yelling 'thats crap!'
or people just not listening - except for deadman

hmm rochie spoiled it for et as well i tried but he droned me out :'( if he hasnt thought of the game he calls it crap. i tried et had it working and everything!

4. no-one cares about your opinions so if you dont want to play a game just dont, instead of trying to convince others about your point of view
5. just because you suck at a game doesnt mean that game is crap
6. play a game before you voice an opinion
7. there are currently 80,021 people playing counterstrike and 42,345 playing source this very second and more than 1 million play regularly on either of the two games. a further 100 million own one or both. counterstrike is not crap (except in your mind) actually play one and you'll find they're both fun, addictive, and brilliantly simple to learn and play.
8. i dont particuarly like warcraft-like games myself, but given the chance, i will play, to try new things like dota, everyone should, and *shock-horror* you might even find that you are enjoying yourself
9. others couldn't 'voice their concerns' because they had no idea that a game was being played - their voice is drowned out. i know a way around this - as soon as i hear that load voice over the voices of everyone else i look around to see what game is being played so i can join.
10. read that krostech mision statement. it says
"We want to foster an environment where people will play games that don't really "turn them on" while realising that this makes it more enjoyable for those who do, and at the same time this is turn about. These people will in turn play games that you enjoy."
theory of karma. notice no-one wanted to play battlefield 2? think about it

for everyone else im sorry but it just annoys me so much when people this obnoxious think their opinions are always right without thinking about anything else.

As much as I dont want to get into the middle of this debate, I have a few things to say on the topic.
Firstly, I did find it very tiring that certain people felt the need to continually pay out nearly every game suggested. Not only did it come across has rude and unwaranted, it also seemed insulting at times. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to gaming.
Secondly, and this statement applies to everyone who reads this, you shouldn't hate a game just because your bad at it. the only way your going to get better is by playing it, and you have to resign yourself to the fact that no matter how good you are, somewhere in the world there's going to be someone whos a hell of a lot better.
To end this i'm just going to say...... DOTA RULZ!!!

I stand by our mission statement - and we do want to create that environment. however it is up to the players to be grown up enough about it to make it happen.
mirk says it exactly right - "Everyone has different preferences when it comes to gaming."

OK so we will try these games, and for Penguin Boy and 007's sake we will play COD2 and ET and see what the consensus opinion is.
IF (and its an if) - the consensus (majority) opinion is that we don't want to play the game we won't. If they do then we will, and those who don't like it will put up with it - me included.
I am never gonna beat droll at warcraft, or enigma at rise of nations, or nightshade at UT2004 but I play them and live for the day that I can beat gunner at v8's (also not likely) but at least I have a chance there.
